UJE Board Member Wolf Moskovich lectured in Paris on 5 October 2018, following his moving discussion<\/a> with Holocaust survivor Lili Stern-Pohlmann in London the previous day to discuss the legacy of Andrei Sheptytsky, the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Hosted by Iryna Dmytrychyn, head of Ukrainian studies at France\u2019s Inalco (Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales), Dr. Moskovich in his talk touched upon a wide range of topics: the historic relationship between Ukrainians and Jews; antisemitism, which he argued is low in contemporary Ukraine; long-held stereotypes and how they are changing, particularly on the part of young people; Metropolitan Sheptytsky\u2019s heroism during the Second World War as he sheltered Jews; and other topics.<\/p>\n

Dr. Moskovich, who is also Professor Emeritus at Jerusalem\u2019s Hebrew University, is considered the father of Ukrainian studies in Israel. Below is a video presentation of his important Ukrainian-language lecture, which drew on Dr. Moskovich\u2019s profound knowledge of Ukrainian and Jewish history.<\/p>\n
