Ukrainian Jewish Encounter is proud to support two North American literary events by Paris-based writer Vladislav Davidzon. The European culture correspondent at Tablet Magazine, a leading online magazine dedicated to Jewish news and culture, Davidzon is the author of Jewish-Ukrainian Relations and the Birth of a Political Nation: Selected Writing 2013-2023 <\/em>(Ibidem Verlag, Stuttgart, 2023). <\/em>The book\u2019s publication was supported by UJE.<\/p>\n

Jewish-Ukrainian Relations and the Birth of a Political Nation: Adrian Karatnycky in conversation with journalist Vladislav Davidzon<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a selection of essays and dispatches from a veteran observer of the development of Ukrainian culture and politics over the course of a decade. The volume deals with the issue of Ukrainian-Jewish relations and its historical legacy in the context of a Russian invasion of Ukraine. It charts the events that took place in Ukraine after the 2013-2014 Euromaidan Revolution and focuses on the place of Ukrainian Jewry within a quickly developing Ukrainian political nation.<\/p>\n

Adrian Karatnycky<\/strong>, formerly the president of Freedom House, is a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council and a Board Member and Co-Director of the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter, a Canadian charitable nonprofit organization. He is a contributor to\u00a0Foreign Affairs<\/em>,\u00a0Newsweek<\/em>,\u00a0The Washington Post<\/em>,\u00a0The Wall Street Journal<\/em>, the\u00a0Financial Times<\/em>,\u00a0Foreign Policy<\/em>,\u00a0The New York Times<\/em>, and many other periodicals. He is author of the forthcoming book\u00a0Battleground Ukraine: From Independence to the War with Russia.<\/em><\/p>\n

Vladislav Davidzon<\/strong>\u00a0is the European culture correspondent at Tablet, a fellow at the Atlantic Council\u2019s Eurasia Center, and the author of\u00a0From Odessa With Love: Political and Literary Essays in Post-Soviet Ukraine<\/em>. He was the founder and Chief Editor of\u00a0The Odessa Review<\/em>. He is a contributor to\u00a0Foreign Policy Magazine<\/em>\u00a0and the\u00a0Opinion Section<\/em>\u00a0of the\u00a0Wall Street Journal<\/em>. He studied human rights law in Venice.<\/p>\n
