Prof. Paul Robert Magocsi, chair of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Toronto, kicked off the 2018 tour of Jews and Ukrainians: A Millennium of Co-Existence<\/em> with an enthusiastic presentation at London\u2019s Ukrainian Institute on 3 May.\u00a0 Moderated by Dr. Brendan McGeever, Acting Associate Director of the Pears Institute for the Study of Antisemitism,\u00a0Birkbeck, University of London, a conversation between the two scholars touched on a myriad of topics, including the history of Jews on Ukrainian lands, Ukrainian-Jewish relations both in Ukraine and in the Diasporas and stereotypes.<\/p>\n

The London presentation was the first in a series of upcoming events sponsored by the Ukrainian Institute titled \u201cJews and Ukrainians: Re-Assessing the Past and Looking into the Future\u201d<\/a>.\u00a0 The program is supported by the UJE.<\/p>\n

Future happenings will be available on the UJE and Ukrainian Institute, London websites.<\/p>\n

Prof. Magocsi also spoke at Cambridge University, in Stockholm and at S\u00f6dert\u00f6rn University in early May. <\/strong>Videos from those presentations are forthcoming. He will continue the book tour in Ukraine in June and will travel to the western United States in November.<\/p>\n

Jews and Ukrainians: A Millennium of Co-Existence<\/em> is co-authored by Prof. Magocsi and Dr. Yohanan Petrovsky-Shtern of Northwestern University and was published with the assistance of the UJE.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
