Leading Ukrainian writer Irena Karpa in Jerusalem

On February 12, at 6 p.m. the Jerusalem International Book Fair will host the event We Saw the Night featuring Irena Karpa, leading Ukrainian author, artist and TV host. The encounter will focus on the role of women in Ukraine’s 2014 Maidan or Revolution of Dignity. In a discussion with Russian writer Alice Bialsky, Irena Karpa will explore the events that led to a year of tumultuous change in her homeland and how perceptions of what is “regular” transformed because of those events. This includes how women perceive themselves and what it means to be a woman in Ukraine today.
