Tel Aviv's Government Complex was wrapped in a giant Ukrainian flag at rally
A rally in support of Ukraine and against Russian aggression took place near the main government complex in Tel Aviv on Friday, 18 February. It was attended by dozens of Israelis who formed a chain near the entrance to the building.
Rally participants wrapped a huge Ukrainian flag around the entrance to the tower of government agencies. The police did not interfere with the event.
The action was held by the non-profit organization "Israeli Friends of Ukraine" and was led by organizers Anna Zharova and Inna Turbayevskaya.
Posters in Hebrew, English and Ukrainian read "We are with Ukraine," "Strong together," "Putin, hands off Ukraine," "Stop Russian aggression," and more.
The Israeli government is very cautious about the Russia-Ukraine conflict, seeking to maintain partnerships with both Moscow and Kyiv. At the same time, the Israeli Foreign Ministry is trying to evacuate Israelis from Ukraine. This position of the Israeli government is criticized by the Ukrainian authorities and many concerned Israelis.
