The University of Haifa is helping scholars and students from Ukraine
On 14 July 2022, Yevhen Korniychuk, Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel, met with Ron Robin, the President of the University of Haifa, as well as with faculty members and lecturers.
The ambassador informed the Israeli educators about the difficulties higher educational institutions in Ukraine face because of the Russian army's barbaric destruction of Ukrainian territory.
Ways to expand opportunities to integrate Ukrainian students and educators in the work of affiliated institutions in Israel were discussed. Like other universities in Israel, the University of Haifa is allocating scholarships and grants to scholars and students from Ukraine to help them during the war.
Ambassador Korniychuk also met with academics from Ukraine who are now conducting research at the University of Haifa.
The Ukrainian ambassador presented university President Robin with the book Jews and Ukrainians: A Millennium of Co-Existence, published by the Canadian non-profit charitable organization Ukrainian Jewish Encounter.
