Ukrainka hosts the exhibition "A Journey Through the Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter: From Antiquity to 1939"

On 16 January 2026, the traveling exhibition "A Journey Through the Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter: From Antiquity to 1939," created by UJE, opened in the Enerhetyk Palace of Culture in Ukrainka, Kyiv region. This was an important cultural and educational event for the local community and another effort to disseminate knowledge about the centuries-old history of Ukrainian-Jewish relations.

The opening ceremony was moderated by Yulia Cherevko, a vocalist at the Enerhetyk Palace of Culture, who welcomed the guests and emphasized the exhibition's significance to Ukrainka.

In his welcoming address, Vladyslav Hrynevych, Jr., UJE's regional manager in Ukraine, spoke about the organization's activities, its key initiatives, and the exhibition's concept, which aims to understand the complex, multifaceted history of Ukrainian-Jewish coexistence. Vladyslav Hrynevych, Jr., paid special attention to UJE's educational projects, particularly the Student Drawing Competition, which aroused particular interest among Lyceum No. 1 students who attended the opening ceremony.

The guests included representatives of the museum community, namely Hanna Kyryliuk, Director of the Pliuty Literary and Artistic Museum, and Olena Bilous, curator of the museum's funds. Their presence underscored the importance of cooperation among cultural institutions in the region and fostered professional exchange on the preservation of historical and artistic heritage.

Olena Shyian, pastor at the Love of the Messiah Full Gospel Church in Ukrainka, expressed her support for the initiative to preserve historical memory and foster mutual understanding in the community.

Taisiia Vaksa, Director of the Ukrainka Municipal Library, expressed special gratitude to the organizers, noting the importance of joint cultural initiatives for community development and engaging young people in the study of history.

Members of the Ukrainka Town Council also participated in the event, which was covered on the official website of the Ukrainka community, generating wider awareness among the local residents.

Each visitor to the exhibition's opening was presented with a copy of the lavishly illustrated, insightful catalog A Journey Through the Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter: From Antiquity to 1914.
