Tel Aviv event: "Jews and Ukrainians: A Millennium of Co-Existence" and Russia's unprovoked war against Ukraine

Sipur Pashut — Independent Bookstore and Ukrainian Jewish Encounter are pleased to invite you to an event about the book "Jews and Ukrainians: A Millennium of Co-Existence" and Russia's unprovoked war against Ukraine.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a cruel war against Ukraine. President Vladimir Putin said his goal was to 'de-Nazify' Ukraine. Paul Robert Magocsi, a professor of history and political science and one of the authors of the book "Jews and Ukrainians: A Millennium of Co-Existence", will examine the Russian president's ill-founded allegations and will present how the stories of Ukrainians and Jews are incomplete without each other.
The first ten attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the book "Jews and Ukrainians: A Millennium of Co-Existence."
Participants:
Paul Robert Magocsi, introduced by Natalia A. Feduschak, Director of Communications, Ukrainian Jewish Encounter. Ukrainian Jewish Encounter, a Canadian non-profit charitable organization, was founded in 2008 to deepen the understanding of the breadth, complexity, and diversity of Ukrainian-Jewish relations over the centuries, with a view to the future.
The event will be held in English, and will take place on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 18:00, in Sipur Pashut – Independent Bookshop, Shabazi st. 36, Tel Aviv.

As for the general public, here again there is considerable ignorance about these two peoples who have lived together for more than a thousand years in the lands that today comprise the European country known as Ukraine…Perhaps we can share with readers our under¬standing of the historical experience in Ukraine as one that has not only divided ethnic Ukrainians and Jews but also brought them together." ב־24 בפברואר 2022 פתחה רוסיה במלחמה אכזרית נגד אוקראינה. הנשיא ולדימיר פוטין אמר שמטרתו הייתה "דה-נאציפיקציה" של אוקראינה. פול רוברט מגוצ'י, פרופסור להיסטוריה ולמדעי המדינה וממחברי הספר "יהודים ואוקראינים: מילניום של דו־קיום", יבחן את הטענות הלא מבוססות של הנשיא הרוסי ויציג את סיפוריהם של האוקראינים והיהודים, שאינם שלמים אחד בלי השני.
