Ukrainian Jewish Encounter initiates competition of architectural projects for Babyn Yar park

On September 29 - 30 the 75th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy is to be commemorated in Kyiv. Ukrainian Jewish Encounter (UJE), Ukrainian and the Jewish community plans to hold a series of related events a week earlier. They include a competition for arranging the memorial at the Babyn Yar park, academic discussions, youth conference and a big concert in the Opera House, said Adrian Karatnycky, Board Member at the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter civic initiative.

Ukrainian Jewish Encounter Exhibition comes to Edmonton: August 4 – 18

The Edmonton Jewish community is invited to attend a very special exhibit organized by the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter (UJE) entitled A Journey through the Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter: From Antiquity to 1914 The travelling community exhibition, created by the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter and co-funded by the Government of Canada, will open in Edmonton on Tuesday August 4 and runs until August 18 at St. John’s Institute 11024 – 82 Avenue in Edmonton.

Exhibit chronicles history of the Ukrainian-Jewish encounter in Ukraine from antiquity to World War I

The Jewish presence in Ukraine dates back 2,000 years. A traveling exhibit highlighting and exploring the relationship between the two communities – “A Journey Through the Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter from Antiquity to 1914” – was recently mounted by the Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter (UJE), which since 2008 has been studying and supporting this encounter.
