Honorary Consulate of Israel for Western Ukraine to Open in Lviv
Lviv and Israel will be developing stronger relations in tourism, culture, medicine, education, and economics. The Acting Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Yuriy Turyanskyi and the Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine Eliab Byelotserkovski discussed the development of bilateral relations in their meeting on November 7.
The diplomat commented they are in the process of opening the Honorary Consulate of Israel in Western Ukraine. Byelotserkovski said, “In addition, we are exploring the possibility of opening direct flights from Israel to Lviv. This will help to establish closer contacts in business, tourism and culture.”
Turyanskyi stated, “We highly appreciate the cooperation with Israel. We hope that together we can secure our connections and find new ways for mutually beneficial cooperation. In particular, we are now working on organizational solutions so that the economic entities of the two countries will be able to develop closer economic links.”
This is not the first visit of the Israeli ambassador to Lviv. In addition, he will participate in an award ceremony for the “Righteous Among the Nations”–non-Jews who saved Jewish people in the Lviv region during the Second World War. Almost one hundred people in the Lviv region have received the “Righteous Among the Nations” award.
