As defined by the YIVO Encyclopedia of Jews in Eastern Europe, "Kultur-Lige was the general name of a number of cultural and social organizations formed in the 1920s and 1930s in Eastern Europe as well as in certain countries of Western Europe and the Americas."

Founded in Kyiv during the time of the Central Rada, Kultur-Lige's goal was to promote the development of all spheres of contemporary Yiddish culture, including education, literature, theater, art and music.

On 16 September 2021, at the 28 BookForum, Prof. Myroslav Shkandrij (University of Manitoba), Prof. Harriet Murav (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign), and Prof. Gennadiy Estriakh (New York University) discussed Kulture-Lige and a new English-language volume they are currently working on.
