Video: Listen, read, understand: Ukrainian translations of Hebrew- and Yiddish-language authors

A conversation about Ukrainian translations of Hebrew- and Yiddish-language authors took place on 5 October 2025 at the 32nd Lviv BookForum with the participation of essayist and art critic Diana Klochko, Yiddish translator Tetiana Nepypenko, and Hebrew translator Anna Nekrasova.

Also discussed was a trilingual book of essays (Ukrainian, English and Hebrew) recently published that was the result of the third Agnon Literary Residency which took place in Buchach, Ukraine. The residency occurred during COVID shutdowns in 2021 and before Russia’s 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The book includes reflections by the literary residents — Boris Khersonskiy, Diana Klotchko, Markian Prohasko — who have been directly affected by Russia’s criminal war against their homeland.

The event was moderated by Andriy Pavlyshyn, a Ukrainian journalist, public figure, historian, and translator.
