UJE board member and University of Toronto professor Paul Robert Magocsi traveled throughout the U.S., Europe and Ukraine in 2018 to present the award-winning book Jews and Ukrainians: A Millennium of Co-Existence, a work he co-authored with Yohanan Petrovsky Shtern of Northwestern University. His always engaging talks touched on many issues of concern to his audience: the historic relevance of past campaigns against Jews in contemporary Ukraine; the myths and stereotypes Jews and Ukrainians still embrace; and areas of cooperation between the two peoples.

In the following English-language presentations held in three countries this spring and fall, Magocsi focuses on the history of Jews on Ukrainian lands and the intersection of the Ukrainian and Jewish communities. These lectures are rich in historic detail and provide a basis for a deeper understanding of the Ukrainian-Jewish relationship over the centuries.
