Shalom Toronto: Exhibit Shows 2,000 History of Jews in Ukraine

Fragrant verenike, delicate swirls of lox on cream cheese, ice cold vodka and the vibrant, live Ukrainian-Jewish music of Eric Stein of Ashkenaz and Jonno Lightstone on clarinet. This was the entrée to an extraordinary exhibition that opened May 28 at the Schwartz-Reisman Centre. “A Journey Through the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter: From Antiquity to 1914” that tells the ancient history of the Ukrainian Jews.
