Ukrainian Rock Group Charity Concert in Israel in Support of Wounded Ukrainians

On June 20, 2014, the legendary Ukrainian rock band Vopli Vidopliassova performed in Israel during a tour dedicated to the release of their tenth album, Wonderful World. The band played their only concert in Tel Aviv to raise funds to support wounded civilians injured in clashes in Ukraine, in particular Odessa, Slovyansk and Mariupol. This event took place with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel and the Jewish Agency.

“I am happy that the organizers of our performance in the Holy Land supported our initiative and agreed to donate profits from the concert to charity,” said group leader Oleh Skrypka.

At the request of the Independent Producers Guild who arranged the band's visit to Israel, the Israel Help Maidan Wounded group actively participated in organizing the charity event. The goal was to educate the Israeli public about the situation in Ukraine, highlight the condition of the wounded and to suggest possible options to help. The Tel Aviv audience was forthcoming with their support. That evening 3,424 shekels, 66 dollars, and ten euros were collected and donated to buy Israeli bandages that can be so effective in saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.

There was also a 'Dinner with the Stars' auction. The winners Vadim and Toma Katz dined with Skrypka, courtesy of the Hugo restaurant. The sum the couple donated will be spent on the purchase of urgently needed medical supplies for the wounded.
